CartCubes Gift Card for FluentCart

Setup Guide

Mark a one-time FluentCart product as a gift card, choose fixed or custom amounts, then follow when codes issue and where shoppers redeem them.

Start here if you have not sold a gift card yet. The steps below use the same screenshots as the other tabs, in the order a merchant actually sets things up.

  • One-time products only: Subscription and installment prices cannot be used, and renewals do not issue new cards.
  • Per-product widget: Tick Yes, this product is a Gift Card on the product edit screen. There is no separate product type.
  • Paid orders issue codes: Cards are created when the order is paid, one per unit, using your prefix and pattern.
  • Redeem at checkout: Shoppers type the code in FluentCart's coupon field, apply a saved card from Have a Gift Card, or scan a QR code.

Turn gift cards on

Gift Card, Settings, General is the master switch. Enable Gift Cards is on by default. Turning it off stops new cards from paid orders and hides the checkout wallet. Default Expiry Days starts at 365 (0 means never).

General tab: Enable Gift Cards, Show Have a Gift Card on checkout, Default Expiry Days, Code Prefix, Code Pattern and Store Logo, with Recipients, Recipient form, Custom amount field, Delivery, Redemption and Advanced across the top.

Enable Gift Cards toggle. The help text states that turning it off stops issuing cards from paid orders and hides the checkout wallet, and that subscription renewals do not create new cards.

Mark the product as a gift card

On the FluentCart product edit screen, open Gift Card Settings and tick Yes, this product is a Gift Card. This is not a product type or a category. Simple variants work for fixed denominations. Saving with a subscription or installment price is rejected.

Gift Card Settings widget on the product editor: This is a Gift Card is checked. The subtitle notes that gift cards work with one-time prices, including simple variants, and that subscription and installment prices are not supported.

Fixed versus custom amounts

Leave Allow custom amount off to sell the listed one-time price, or use simple variants for $25 / $50 / $100. Tick it to let buyers type a value on the product page, then set Minimum amount and Maximum amount in dollars. Empty means no limit.

Allow custom amount checked on the product, with Minimum amount set to 10 and Maximum amount left at the 0.00 placeholder (no maximum).

What the buyer fills in

When Show Recipient Fields is on, the product page collects Recipient name, Recipient email, From, Message and Deliver on. Turn on Let Buyers Pick a Delivery Time to add the At hour dropdown. Quantity 2 with Allow Multiple Recipients shows Recipient 1 and Recipient 2.

Product-page recipient form: Recipient name, Recipient email, From (optional), Message (optional), Deliver on (optional) and At, above Buy Now and Add To Cart.

When the code is issued

Codes are generated when the order is paid. No future date means the card is Active and the delivery email goes out immediately. A future Deliver on date keeps it Pending until the scheduled send. Default pattern: GIFT-XXXX-XXXX-XX.

Code Prefix set to GIFT and Code Pattern set to {prefix}-XXXX-XXXX-XX. Each X becomes a random character. Letters and numbers only in the prefix.

Status key: Active can be redeemed, Pending is scheduled and not redeemable yet, Redeemed is fully used, Suspended keeps the balance, Expired is past the date, Void cannot be used.

Where customers use it

At checkout, codes apply through FluentCart's coupon field. Logged-in customers with Show Have a Gift Card on checkout enabled also see Your available cards with an Apply button. The FluentCart dashboard adds a Gift Cards tab. Optionally publish [cartcubes_giftcard_balance] for a public lookup.
